Links to Educational Websites There are many sites that provide links to excellent curriculum content pages for teachers. There are also excellent "chats" where teachers can go to ask for advise on specifics. We've included a few of those sites here. However, we prefer to offer links to sites for teachers that offer alternative ways of thinking about the process of education in general and teaching in particular. These include informational sites on such topics as:
We've included a few sites below as examples. This page will always be "under construction" and we will be adding many sites in the next few months. If you have a site that you think might fit within our framework or you've discovered a site you've found particularly useful, please don't hesitate to email us with the URL and a brief description of the site. We will link to commercial sites only if they provide a significant amount of "free" information. (This site is an example.) Leading and Learning for the 21st Century A great site from New Zealand. Check out "Bruce's World" for many wonderful articles and ideas about teachers transforming education. "We believe that we are standing at the edge of discovering exciting ideas that have the potential to transform our organizations as we know them and in the process make the world a better place for all." Theory Into Practice "TIP is a tool intended to make learning and instructional theory more accessible to educators. The database contains brief summaries of 50 major theories of learning and instruction. These theories can also be accessed by learning domains and concepts." A Vision Learning To Happen. In this site you will find a collection of articles, essays, book excerpts, and proposals about learning. If you're interested in education, learning, consciousness, dialogue, or preparing our children to meet their futures, you will find these materials stimulating and relevant. iEARN is a non-profit global network that enables young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in the world. An outspoken critic of NCLB has hosted a site filled with relevant articles. Check out No Child Left! NEW Marion Brady hosts a site discussing the fragmented curriculum and commenting on current educational issues. Dr. William Bainbridge has been a regular commentator on the failure of NCLB to address some of the social issues in closing the achievement gap. Here's one article that summarizes his position. The Career Dreams Educational Foundation Career Dreams Educational Foundation is a non-profit that helps students to be more successful in school and in life and to go for their career dreams based on their talents and passions. We establish a positive atmosphere of NO LIMITS and NO NEGATIVES within each school.Kathy Schrock's Guide Although we don't plan to list similar sites, this one site is arguably one of the richest sources of content resources for teachers of all grade levels and subjects. It's been around for years and just keeps getting better.
